We are excited to announce the release of a new outbreak management toolkit focused on shigellosis among people experiencing homelessness. Created by the Washington Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence and California Department of Public Health, this toolkit provides practical, evidence-based guidance to assist public health agencies respond effectively to shigellosis outbreak among people experiencing homelessness.
Developed to address the unique challenges of conducting investigations in low‑resource or hard‑to‑reach environments, the toolkit offers ready‑to‑use tools for case investigation, field specimen collection, outreach coordination, and implementation of control measures. It also supports cross‑sector collaboration with shelter staff, healthcare partners, and community organizations.
