Access Course
Applied Outbreak Investigation training is a self-paced online course designed to teach individuals how to apply epidemiologic skills and methods to a foodborne outbreak investigation.
This course was chosen is part of the Epidemiology Tier 1 Core Curriculum because it is an application based curriculum covering the essential steps to investigating a foodborne illness outbreak.
This training includes a combination of lectures and an interactive outbreak scenario. This course is approximately 4-5 hours in length.

- Describe when a foodborne outbreak investigation is necessary.
- Demonstrate how to investigate an outbreak.
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of epidemiology, environmental health, and laboratory in an outbreak investigation.

- Describe how to document and report on outbreak findings.
- Identify communication strategies to employ during an outbreak.
